Michel Hundhausen Bream, founder and lead consultant of Flying Fork Consulting, provides the overall strategic direction and guidance to the company and its services.  Michel founded the company in 2013 with the goal of helping small businesses win government contracts.

With 23% of all federal dollars targeted for small businesses, you would think selling your service or product to the government to be a fairly easy thing to accomplish.  Unfortunately, the process is mired with obstacles.  From certifications and NAICS codes, to the biggy – the RFP (Request for Proposal), it’s like learning a new language with the rules for pronunciation changing all the time.  Most small businesses do not have the resources in-house to prepare the necessary documentation to respond to an RFP, let alone understand what it is they need to include in their proposal.  

To the rescue.  After spending several years assisting large corporations with development of proposals, protests, lease negotiations, construction and operations issues, Michel saw the culture at airports and other government venues changing.  More emphasis was being placed on bringing in small businesses directly instead of through subcontracts--a practice which often led to small businesses being taken advantage of and unable to grow at their expense and for profit of the large corporations.  Michel decided it was time to change her direction and work with small businesses.  

Michel earned a law degree (Juris Doctor - JD) in 1995 from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California.  She has worked in in-house legal departments for over 20 years gaining experience across many industries.
